Wedding Save The Date Cards – Why It May Be Necessary!

>> Monday, February 22, 2010

Save the Date cards are a way for newly engaged couples to announce their wedding several months in advance of their wedding date. A save the date card is an informal announcement, not to be used in lieu of a wedding invitation. A formal invitation should always follow a save the date card. Save the Date cards come in many forms, they may be photo cards, postcards, business cards or magnets. Some include a photo of the happy couple, or they may just include the couple’s name, destination of their wedding, and a date.

Top Reasons To Use A Save The Date Card

If you are inviting family and friends from out of state...it is a nice gesture to send a Save the Date Card at least 6 months in advance. This will allow your guests to prepare for your big day, by allowing them to make travel plans.

If you are planning a Destination Wedding, it is a good idea to send out your save the date cards 8 months to 1 year in advance. Your guests may need that amount of time to save for a trip abroad so that they may share your special day with you.

Do I Have To Send A Save the Date Card to Everyone On My Guest List?

No, it is not always necessary to send one to everyone on your guest lists. There are times when you may choose to send save the dates to only close friends and relatives.

Should They Match The Theme Of My Wedding?

Save the date cards can be made to fit the theme of your wedding or they can be whimsical and fun. There is no right or wrong when it comes to choosing a style.

Wording For Your Save The Date

Simple and to the point:

Save the Date: [bride and groom names] are getting married [destination name] on [date of wedding] Formal invitation to follow. Feel free to get more creative. RSVP should not be included.

How Much Should I Spend?

This is entirely up to you. Save the Date Cards vary in price depending on your style. You can purchase cards to fit any budget. If you are on a tight budget you can even make your own.

Couples, You Need A Wedding Webpage

>> Monday, February 15, 2010

Creating a wedding webpage is becoming a hot trend. More and more couples are using wedding webpages to connect with their family and friends.

Some features of wedding webpages:

A chance to share your story.
This is where you let everyone know how you met, When you shared your first kiss and what your hopes and dreams are as a couple! You can also introduce your wedding party and tell a little about how you chose each person to be included in the ceremony. Talk about your honeymoon and where you are planning to go. These stories give you and your family and friends a more intimate connection.

Adding photos
On your wedding webpage you will be able to share you and your sweethearts pre wedding photos. Photos such as your engagement pictures, vacation photos, or any photo of happy moments of the two of you together.

Maps
Most wedding webpages have an application that allows you to post a map with directions to your venue and surrounding attractions for those arriving from out of town.

Gift registry

Some wedpages have a really cool feature, that allows you to post your gift registry to your page.

Music
Do you have a personal wedding playlist? You can share your wedding music on your wedpages too.

How do I get started?
There are several sites to choose from. Several offer free wedding pages but there are some that ask for a minimal fee. I have compiled a small list for you, but feel free to search for your others. During my searches I have found that www.mywedding.com is my favorite. They have several templates to choose from and they are 100% free. Below is a list of other that I have found:

www.ewedding.com
www.projectwedding.com
www.weddingwire.com
www.wedshare.com
www.wedpagedesigns.com
